white smokescreen rises from the vatican

There’s an election on in the US, the economy is in the toilet all over the world, and most importantly, my football team had an amazing result on Wednesday night.

In amongst all that hype, I just managed to catch this bit of news on the radio yesterday, and it took me a while to find an article about it on the internet.
The Vatican issued new psychological screening guidelines for seminarians Thursday — the latest effort by the Roman Catholic Church to be more selective about its priesthood candidates following a series of paedophile scandals.
Unbelievable.

Talk about missing the point altogether!!!

As far as I’m concerned, the Catholic church sex abuse scandal was about far more than the actual antics of its clergy.

Let’s just say that although it’s good to see them taking some kind of action, I’d be a lot more impressed if the Vatican could come up with some kind of screening process whereby its priests become bishops and bishops become archbishops ONLY if they are willing to blow the whistle on such behaviour and not simply transport it to another part of the world in an attempt to cover it up.

If you want to weed your garden, it’s no good pulling up the individual plants; if you leave the roots, they’ll just grow back again.

Have a holier-than-thou weekend, folks.

if the catholic church was a fan club, every sane personn would dis-associate themselves from it. Unforftunately "god's rottweiler" holds the monopoly on access to the big fella, so if you want your kids to go to heaven send 'em to father gary glitter's choir practice.
have a good weekend jp.
